DONATE TO MAKE A SPECIFIC PURCHASE:
Buy a prosthesis for a child: $ 2800. If a child in Guatemala is born with part of a limb missing, his / her future may be that of a beggar on the street (we’ve seen that). You can help us fit such a child with a prosthesis (a used titanium rod, a custom-fit socket and a hard plastic foot) and watch them walk, dance, go to school and find a profession.
Buy a liner for a child:$ 550. To protect the child’s skin, a neoprene liner goes over their residual limb before they slide the prosthesis on. These can get sweaty and dirty. So we always try to have two for each child and the family washes one each night. That way, the child always has a clean liner.
Buy a new socket for a child: $ 750. Active kids grow, and so do their residual limbs. Periodically we need to re-mold the socket, still using the rest of the prosthesis.
Buy a new prosthetic foot for a child: $ 180. Active kids wear out prosthetic feet.
