FAKS improves the lives of impoverished children living in developing countries and who have seriously deformed or missing limbs. Such deformities can easily lead to lives of begging and starvation. We arrange to provide them with prostheses, orthotics, surgery and physical therapy.
Vision Statement
Currently working in Latin America, FAKS provides modern, high quality prosthetics using local sources and providers (prosthetists, Physical Therapists). The cost of these services and devises is a fraction of what their cost would be in the U.S.
Assisting a child with prosthetic care is typically a long-term commitment. As the child grows, the vestigial limb also changes size and shape.Periodic modifications to the prosthesis, as well as Physical Therapy and sometimes surgery are needed until the child reaches full adult size.
